solar systems with earth-sized planets discovered

Some extraordinary news has been released over the past few days: scientists have confirmed the discovery of earth sized planets in other solar systems.

There have also been slightly larger planets discovered in what is referred to as the habitable zone – ie, the zone around a star where temperatures are neither to hot nor to cold for life as we know it to exist.
